EACH AND EVERY DAY, BUT MORE SO TONIGHT...tonight Rachael showed a video of a speech that Dr. king made on March 22, 1965 which was in direct honor of Representative Lewis (and all who were taken back to the nightmares of Jim Crow raising its ugly head yesterday )who was treated much like he was treated for marching side by side with Dr. king which almost got him beat to death... rachael showed this speech today, a day later. That speech by Dr. King which later lead to Lewis almost being beaten to death for his part in marching besides this great man... Keith and Rachael gave honor and recognition to this man and we have done what?!? Have we even put up one video for just how advanced we are in America...in 65 they almost beat this man to death because of the color of his skin and trying to help a black Liberation preacher where as today he only gets called a word we can not even say any more or be able to even accept a Black Libebiration minister as a proud member of our race while we open our churches to the Clintons the miuite they leave those White only towns where they are still upset over Dr. King and his accomplishments......... Fox is saying how this is all made up and keith is saying that this is just showing a Pattern of behavior and we in this community are saying .....WHAT?!?...but, this may not be about our having a Black president as White politicians offices in their home states in the south are being vandilized...WHAT MORE PROOFS DO WE NEED TO HAVE ThaT THIS IS NOT ABOUT JIM CROW???????????( I am not smiling, as "I" have been there done that)

There was a great moment before the vote when Nancy Pelosi and John Lewis and other Dems had to get physically into the Capital building to do their govennment business. The decided to walk boldly right through the heart of the Tea Party protestors, walking arm in arm, while enduring their insults.
Later, John Lewis compared the moment to the time he made the March to from Selma to Montgomery and was severly beaten by police.
"This time," he said, "the police were there protecting us."
It was a cool moment in history.

Irma,
Mozell posted a blog on the value of social media, which I think has a lot of value of course, vs. mainstream media. But we need to figure out how to better utilize this capability to transform it into action.
One of the things I notice. I put two blogs up, one on Black History on the lack of a public option in this LANDMARK health bill, one on HBCU Connect about the Census. No response on either of these important issues. It seems people would rather talk about Beyonce.
Somehow we need to transform all these ideas we have here from TALK to ACTION! We have a powerful tool here, and believe me, there are those that wish to limit our power. Case in point are the issues of Net Neutrality and the National Broadband Plan, other topics that are not getting enough attention!
I'm extremely frustrated to not be able to post blogs on these topics on BIA, as I'm still stuck in the hospital. But even if I could post them, do they get the attention they deserve? And if they did, would we actually have a plan to DO anything about them???

Theresa, I commented on Beyonce too and am still reading the comments on that one as well. And I didn't mean to imply it's not an important issue, but I am biased I guess because I just don't watch, it holds no interest for me, and sometimes I forget that most others do watch. But my thought is that TV has way too much sway over people in many different ways, and I can't even stand to watch it anymore. But I realize it is pretty much a futile effort to get people to turn the damn things off. Of course God says if we have a grain of faith we can move mountains.

To post a blog entitled, a few reasons why you would feel ashamed for being an African-American woman is a sign that you are in desperate need of professional mental help. Perhaps with this new health-care legislation, you could get some professional psychiatric help and I am not being funny.

I realize that Irma’s mental condition was not her point. However, in making her point she exposed something else about her that I noticed, which her mental state of being is. She said she presently has a psychiatrist. So, I am not totally in left field, right.
I keep telling you all that I have an IQ of 68. I am just barely passed the threshold of retardation. Yet I detected this while you did not, why is that?

Irma, sure the government has to change with the society, I agree completely. The founders (I will not call them fathers) would find this life as we now know it, mind boggling. But I don't think the constitution itself is living, we must have some frame of reference, else we may as well burn it and start over. Rather than living, I see it as too often subject to whims and sly workarounds for whatever suits the particular politics of the time that don't wish to honor it. There is a means to change it, the process of amending. But that requires 3/5ths of the states approval. It is much easier just to put that conservative or liberal judge in there and go by the back door. But that in my book is called lying, just as the common lie everyone accepts that we are a democracy. We were founded as a republic, and are now socialist. I believe we should just face the truth and acknowledge what we really are. If they want to burn the constitution and start over, at least that is the honest way and I would be fine with it. As long as we do not burn up those inalienable rights along with it. Thieves and liars have governed throughout history. At least we did have one shining moment, perhaps we will again someday.

But maybe that shining moment is a myth, now I think about it. After all, it was gained at the cost of the slaughter of most of the native inhabitants of this continent, and the enslavement of those of another.
Where does that leave us Irma? Politics will never be the answer. The answer is Community, Love of Truth, and Justice.

I agree. As to not posting on BIA, that was because I was in the hospital and their proxy server blocked access to BIA as a social net site. But not Black History or HBCU Connect. Blogs are shared across the sites, but I guess the notification of a blog only occurs on the site where it was posted. Anyway, I tried. But I'm home now and you will see I am posting on BIA again.

I have to disagree about the primacy of federal over state. The state has primacy in powers not specifically granted to federal by the constitution.

NOw my main point on the matter is this...

Clark, do you remember me telling you that our attorney general Gerry Brown was going to run again for being our governor and how it was my belief that his hands had been forced to give out information about the 39% insurance raise before he wanted to do so and how the very next day he said he would be running???? tis has taken a lot of pressure off of our present governor so far since he said he would be running which is the last thing Brown needed done...
NOw please check this out how our former insurance commissioair for our state is now in d.c (in the last special election is this state that is totally brok but he has been there a few months now- lol)his name is Gramender (most likely mispelled)I have a picture with Gemanander from 1989 when he was in our local area running for congress way back them.(smile) Oh, I have picctures of Fienstine in her many attempts to get to d. C. and to the governors mansion in Sac...always her sown fall was reporting information about the Night Stalkeer that she had no business doing and after he was caught the night stalker said how he had used her news report to hcang his imo and to get rid of a lot of teh eveidence she said they needed him to have taht they had learned during the investigation that she had no business using to get elected as remaining mayor of San Fran...this put her so far beind her promising femal political career...
In a way it is all about political one up manship in one power play or another... (smile)

It still amases me how "I" am still waithing to see a video of the little guy with our president who is all over all of the news media, but if he gets kicked out of school I am sure I will see him all over all of these sites...also yesterday there was news bites about an out break of protest in school bussings that is getting press...but no news except how bad our schools are in the black neighborhoods...if it is negative we hear about it and we say that others are wrong when only taling about the negatives in the Black community...P-L-E-A-S-E give me a break (smile)

I actually fell totally out with Beyonce when she first began to try and abuse our president when she cancelled her Japan trip...actually I did mention on this site how Aretha would be the one to sing the honor song for our president as she repersents the Civil Right's era...

Steve, Did I tell you that I was accepte into law school...like Clark I did not go for the same reason as Clark...
Steve, I learned this in one of my law classes. "The law is how the judge feels that day". An attorney only has to do one thing...force the opposing witness to lie...and, I promise you Steve the best attorney is an expert in getting you to say every thing in court but what it is you really want to say...that is all.(smile)
Our Constitution is called living for a reason...it changes life with each and every challenge to it...therefore as our society changes our laws must change and our supreme courts depends on who has the most liberal or the most conservatives on it at that time...by teh time this bull taht the GOP is trying to pull on our brainwashed public our president will have at least one more liberal judge on the Supreme Court...fight now the Civli Rights laws of the 60s is going to be in play front and center for the present time...
Steve, we now have more important things than playing with the Teaparty movement as any thing else but a throw back to the 60s...SCHOOLS ARE NOW ARGUING ABOUT BUSSING, END THE WAR, CALSS WAR FARE....this is why i keep saying , "been there done that" (smile) and, only in the 60s it was the blacks fighting with the us government and tiday it is the whites fighting with our us government...that 's all oh and having a black president who is a "first" just as Kennedy was white and the "first" Catholic that the white christians were in such fear of...the POPE they believed would take over America with Kennedy, again a first...good night and lov ya my brother Steve. Hey Clark, glad you stoped by as I need your help...hope you know something about how the IRS works...
tonight the person taking Keith's place on Count Down tonight talked about how and if the suits against the mandate for buying insurence reaches the Supreme Court they will see this as a tax on the states who have emergancy care paid for by tose wh don't have insurance and must by law be treated by said hospitals...
I know and trust our president taht he is an expert in the Cnstutition and would neve allow himself to be led into a trap like this one where this mandate was started by Romney in his state and now he is maybe going to try and run against something in his and Brown's state...
H-E-L-P brother Clark, and any one who knows any thing about the IRS. loooool
