In my opinion ... HELL NO affirmative action is not needed. That just says we still need support from the white community. No one is keeping us from doing anything but ourselves. Look at other minority communities. If you think the Chinese, Vietnamese and Middle Eastern communities need help think again. They have built STRONG communities and amassed great wealth by supporting each other. We just need to support each other. Affirmative Action is needed. At least with most government managed public jobs if you're qualified for the job there are laws that force the manager to hire you and give you a chance.
If it weren't for these government laws and mandates most Black people who are working wouldn't be working today because other people would have squeezed them out of the workforce.
As you see the Republicans overturning many of these laws you see Black people being forced out of the work force and replaced by other people.
On top of that, much of the private sector for the most part is RACIST (and I DO MEAN RACIST)!!! Check it out:
1. Arabs are only hiring other Arabs they aren't trying to hire Black people.
2. Mexicans are only hiring other Mexicans.
3. Chinese hire other Chinese for thier businesses.
These folks (the majority of them anyway) don't see themselves as Americans. They see themselves as Arabs or Chinese or other people who happen to be living in America but they still look out for their own and their own only...you do the math.
Whites on the other hand are a little fairer and sometimes will give people of color a chance but for the most part they still tend to only hire other Whites. That's the private sector.

Affirmative Action may still be needed, because so far at least "I" have not seen one Black person with nor near Palin as she can be lead speaker at a caplital rally that gets local , state and national coverage....

When I hear about people refusing to fly on a commerical passanger plane because the pileot is a Black male and teh co-piolet is a Blcak female and the belief is taht they are unqualified because they must have gotten these jobs because of AA "I" cam relate to tis kind of closed minds on a personal basis because it heppend to me....
When "I" got accepted at UC Berkeley I was so glad because this was my first choice in going to a UC system...when I told my English professor (at our community college) about this his reply to me was ,"What kind of program did I get accepted under...as I always try to help people to do their own thinnking for them selves...my reply was , "Mr. Mays what grade did i get in your lalss"? HIs reply was Ihad recieved an A, "I" then asked why did he believe because of the color of my skin did I not get the same grade in all of my other classes..."I" left him with his mouth hanging open...
NOw as for this form of accepted brainwasing as the accepted norm in America, "I" will add....HOW MANY COLLEGES/ UNIVERSITYS KEEP STUDENTS WHO FLUNKed OUT ON THEIR GPA, BECAUSE THEY GOT THERE UNDER A.A?!?

Mozell, on a personal out look and truth, "I" see AA as we of dark skin now can have a T-O-K-E-N, AND FOR ME THIS HAS LED TO ALL PAST" ONE" QUALIFIED OR NOT IS LOCKED OUT...example,
Before AA we had one token "Black on our supreme court...we now can have "one" (on only less than a few) anchor on mainstream cable news networks as a light skined(light skinned as is close to nonviolent and acceptable as one of us can get)...one on tv series as co-star carring a gun or prosiding over some thing involving violance, murder, drugs, ect.... and yet since the creation of this country WE OF DARK SKINS ARE STILL in the 21st century (!!!!!!!) still CELEBRATING THE FIRST dARK SKINED PERSON GETTING A _______________________________________POSITION....
