Yes, my book ON THE WINGS OF THE WIND showed how a people maintain their dignity, humanity, intelligemnce, ingenuity, creativity and heart in the face of the most brutal oppression imaginable. That is AFrican-American history.

i MENTIONED MY BROTHER COW as in my friend Rich who is the author of a great book about the life of some slaves. Sure Rich's book "ON TH WINGS OF THE WIND" is fiction, but it puropse is the same as those words put to paper of the chatel slaves was about what was going on in the social lives, plantations, towns they live and how they used what they had to do what the goals of their lives were which was to protect, take care of each other especially the little one no matter what and see that they suffered less than their parents did and to give and to demand respect especially for the adults.
Man kind has a mind that never stop seeking what is on teh other side, because it is always going to be better over there so keep going and going and going and never stop seeking a better life. (smile)
Today, the average person has 'stopped' as they wait for someone else to make it better for them...a leader???????????? and answered prayer, hitting the lottery....we have lost the ability to work with what we have at hand...OUR OWN POWERS TO MAKE LIFE BETTER........(OCCUPY__________) LOL!!!

robert and Rich, "I" am so glad for both of your comments, because they both helps me to not have to do a whole different blog on what I just saw in an interview between the host of THE LAST WORD Michael Moore and a member of the NDB...which is about the next generation that is now at UCD that are going beyond and above waitihg for 'someone else but them to rebuild the world that their parents build for them...
they study history in the real and truth that shays cahtel slaves could read and write and the same things they tired to build and did build and every so many generagions in between the building just sits and distroys it so we in America must start all over again...
THOSE WITH OPEN MINDS CAN UNDERSTAND JUST HOW EACH TIME THIS NATION IS BUILD IT IS BUILDED BETTERR AND BETTER. example,

robert, that is a wondeerful question and one that I have never given any thought to."I" would say that the extended family grand mother, all of them would be my hero.They would be the safe habor for from her master, his wife and their children to her own natural birth children and those she helped bring into the world of the young mothers.
These were the true ones who kep th eplantation going during good times and bad times.
You see the tradition was this old wise female was able to retire to her own private home the master always gave her (no not because she was his mistress or any thing like that...they went to her for any and every thing, from a broken heart to a broken foot or are from falling out of a tree. Or just someone to go to when one wanted a smile, a great big hug. (smile)
MY decendant of slaves hero is Ida B. Wells and I admired her long before she has indirectly helped us get our first Black family in the Whitehouse, years after her death. (smile)
and, yes I have male heros also, robert. (smile)
ONE OF MY MALE DECENDANT OF SLAVES HERO IS THE MAN WHO CAUSED THE BLACK MUSLIM RELIGION'S FOUNDATION WITH THE BLACK STAR SHIPING LINE, THE FIRST BLACK OWNED AND RUN MEGA-BUSINESS IN THE USA...(BUT, THEN A BLACK MAN PUT AND END TO THIS QUICK AND BECAUSE THE FOREVER HERO TO US BY WAY OF FALSE MANIPULATED BIA HISTORY AMONG OTHER THINGS...

And, come to think of it, robert have you read Rich's book...because if you have or have read the excerpts of his book he put on the site...Aunt Bee is the female figure / hero of which I speak...I am one who has been blessed to have always had an Aunt Bee in my family, church, neighborhood, all of my life. (smile)
